Speaking and Exhibiting at XR Developer Meeting Spring LT Festival 2026

Introduction

Hi, I'm Nisshi from nisshi-dev workshop.

On March 30, 2026, I attended the "XR Developer Meeting Spring LT Festival 2026" held at esports Style UENO, where I gave a lightning talk about the development of the Real VR Nameplate and exhibited as nisshi-dev workshop.

In this article, I'll share what the talk and exhibition were like.

What is nisshi-dev workshop?

nisshi-dev workshop is a small group operating under the concept of "a maker space connecting reality and the virtual world." We design and sell products like the Real VR Nameplate that bridge VR space and the physical world.

What is XR Developer Meeting?

XR Developer Meeting is a regular gathering for XR and VRChat enthusiasts, with the theme of "connecting real-world XR people and VRChat creators." It's normally held once a month inside VRChat. Once a year, the organizers host a special hybrid lightning talk event that connects a physical venue and a VRChat venue in real time.

Lightning Talk

I gave a talk titled "Real VR Nameplate: A Wearable Gadget That Lets You Wear Your VR Nameplate in the Physical World — Past Development and What's Next". The slides from the talk are embedded below.

The event packed in a lot of XR-style touches: the physical and VRChat venues were connected with almost no latency, and the speakers presenting from VRChat appeared as avatars on a transparent display in the physical venue.

I attended in person, but for my own talk I actually joined VRChat from a PC set up in a back room at the venue.

In the talk, I covered how the Real VR Nameplate project got started and walked through the history of improvements I've made to it.

I wrapped up the talk by sharing where I'd like to take the Real VR Nameplate from here.

Reactions on the day

A number of attendees shared moments from the talk on X.

Thanks to everyone who has helped with the Real VR Nameplate, the project has gone through a lot of improvements on both the hardware and software sides. There was plenty I couldn't fit into a single lightning talk, so I'd like to keep refining my materials and tell the story more clearly next time.

Exhibition and after-party

Alongside the talk, I also set up the nisshi-dev workshop booth and exhibited the actual Real VR Nameplate. During the after-party, attendees got to pick the products up, and we had a great time exchanging impressions and ideas.

Wrapping up

That's a wrap on my report from the XR Developer Meeting Spring LT Festival 2026.

Following the GENkaigi 2026 in Shibuya exhibition back in February, this was another chance to introduce the Real VR Nameplate, this time through a lightning talk. It was great to share what we've been doing across both the hardware and the supporting web systems.

I haven't done many lightning talks recently, so I'd like to take more opportunities to present like this going forward.
